- Bricklayer
  
  Bricklayers lay bricks, stone and concrete blocks. They construct, extend and repair all sorts of buildings, from homes and businesses to schools and monuments.
  
  Some of the tasks a bricklayer will do in their job are:

  - Working from detailed plans and drawings
  - Using hand tools and power tools (like trowels, spirit levels and brick-cutting machines)
  - Laying foundations, maintaining walls or repairing heritage buildings

- General Construction Operative
  
  A general construction operative completes all sorts of practical tasks on a building site to help other workers do their jobs, often working on projects from the very beginning to completion.
  
  Some of the tasks a general construction operative will do in their job are

  - Operating machinery
  - Clearing a site before work starts

- Groundworker
  
  Groundworkers prepare the ground before, during and after a building project. They are one of the first and last workers on site and do everything from laying pipes to concreting.

  - Digging trenches, moving pipes and laying paths
  - Operating machines such as excavators and dumper trucks

- Carpenter
  
  Carpenters use wood and timber to make things. They are needed on all sorts of projects: to fit doors, floors, cabinets and furniture, renovate buildings, and even create sets for film and theatre companies.

  - Fitting roofs, walls, stairs, cupboards, kitchens and much more

- Dryliner
  
  A dryliner creates walls and rooms in buildings using plasterboard. They can build suspended ceilings, raised floors, and provide specialist soundproofing, as well as put up boards to hide pipes and wires from sight so everything looks smooth and tidy.
  
  Some of the tasks a dryliner will do in their job are:
  - Measuring and cutting plasterboard to the right size
  - ixing plasterboard to walls and ceilings
  - Smoothing joins between boards
  - Sanding surfaces ready for painting and decorating

- Insulation Installer
  
  An insulation installer’s job is to put insulation into buildings. By adding special materials to walls and lofts, they can help buildings to retain heat and reduce their carbon footprint.
  
  Some of the tasks an insulation installer will do in their job are:

  - Piping insulation foam into walls
  - Working out the materials needed to fill a space

- Plant Operator

- Roofer
  
  Roofers work at height, on the roofs of buildings. They lay new slates and tiles to keep the rain out, repair old buildings and fit skylight windows.

  - Working safely at height
  - Specialising in different types of roofing (such as tiling, flat roofs or heritage projects)
  - Working out the materials needed for the job
  - Making sure roofs are weatherproof

- Quantity Surveyor
  
  A quantity surveyor’s job is to do the planning for a building project. They will make sure that the project has everything needed to be finished on time, and that it doesn’t end up costing too much money.
  
  Some of the tasks a quantity surveyor will do in their job are:
  - Making a plan for how long each part of the project will take
  - Working out how many people are needed for a project (such as bricklayers, roofers, site managers…and quantity surveyors!)
  - Measuring how much of each material (like bricks, wooden planks and lorryloads of concrete) is needed
  - Adding up how much money everything will cost

  A site manager organises all the work on a building site. They work with lots of different construction workers to make sure each project is completed safely, on time and doesn’t cost too much.

  - Making sure work is of a high quality
